As a relatively young discipline, translation studies has only begun to develop as an independent academic field in Turkey in the last four decades. Especially in recent years, the field has received an ever-increasing interest, which paved the way for the establishment of translation and interpreting departments at the Turkish universities.

Despite the growing demand for language services and translation in the Aegean region, there are only four translation and interpreting programs in Izmir and students from all around Turkey are drawn to the universities offering these programs. This is also the case for Manisa that contributes substantially to the national economy through its industry. Thus, it is of great significance to welcome students in order to meet the needs of Manisa, the region, and the country.

Providing a first class education with its expert academic staff and curriculum tailored according to national and international standards, MCBU English Translation and Interpreting Department aspires to educate students to meet the aforementioned needs. Through its focus on specialized translation courses and translation and language technologies, the department encourages its students to adapt to the developments and changes that will occur in their future careers beyond current translation practices. Equipped in line with ISO standards, the computer lab and simultaneous interpreting lab allow  our students to follow the developments in language and translation technologies and utilize the latest tools both in the classroom and in their personal work.
